The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) welcomed sixteen new faculty members with a dynamic orientation program on February 1, 2025. The program commenced with a keynote address by Professor Jude William Genilo, Pro Vice-Chancellor of ULAB, who eloquently articulated the university’s mission, vision, and core values.

Several interactive sessions made the day full of thought-provoking discussions about being teachers and researchers at the tertiary level. A session on the importance of liberal arts education facilitated by Dr. Abdullah Al Mahmud, Associate Professor from the Department of English & Humanities (DEH) unfolded how liberal arts education can impact holistically emphasizing “the wholeness and holiness of knowledge”. Sameera Zaman, Lecturer and Research Associate at the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) highlighted the university’s innovative projects and initiatives, showcasing ULAB’s commitment to addressing global challenges through research and collaboration. Dr. Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), highlighted the importance of creating inclusive, gender-sensitive classrooms that resonate with the values and expectations of Gen Z learners. Moinak Kanungo, Deputy Director of the Students Affairs Office (SAO) and Co-Curricular Office (CCO), provided an overview of the comprehensive support services available to faculty, ensuring a smooth transition into their new roles. Shawkat Tanveer Rahman, Assistant Proctor, elaborated on the Proctor’s Office’s efforts to maintain a safe, supportive, and conducive academic environment.

Wrapping up the day, Dr. Nafees Mansoor and Musa Mohammad Arif Billah shared valuable insights into research opportunities and the range of services offered by the Human Resources Office sessions.


Faculty Orientation for Spring 2025
