ULAB Faculty Members Complete Certificate Course on Active Learning
Four faculty members from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) successfully completed the Certificate Course on Teaching for Active Learning (TAL-Batch 15), held from April 10 to 12, 2025, at East West University. Organized by the Foundation for Learning, Teaching and Research (fLTR), the three-day course aimed to promote professionalism in teaching and enhance interactive learning strategies in higher education.
The program brought together 25 participants from eight universities. Representing ULAB were Ms. Naima Khatun and Dr. SK Tasthekur Hossain Kowshik from the School of Business, Mr. Md. Didarul Islam from Bangla Bhasha O Sahitya, and Mr. Md. Mahady Hasan from Media Studies and Journalism.
The event was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of East West University. In his address, he emphasized the importance of active learning in developing critical thinking and student engagement. The sessions were facilitated by Professor Dr. Golam Samdani Fakir, Chairperson of fLTR, along with other resource persons. From ULAB, Professor Imran Rahman and Dr. M. Shazzad Hossain conducted two significant sessions on teaching philosophy and high-performing teachers, respectively.
The training concluded with a certificate-awarding ceremony, with participants expressing enthusiasm to apply innovative, student-centered teaching practices in their classrooms.
