CETL Hosts Workshop on Leadership in Times of Transition
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) of ULAB organized a workshop titled “Leadership in Times of Transition” on May 24, 2025, at ULAB, designed specifically for new faculty members.
Seven faculty members who joined ULAB in Spring 2025 participated in this pilot workshop. The event began with a welcome address by CETL Director Dr. M. Shazzad Hossain, followed by Dr. Sarkar Barbaq Quarmal, who conducted the workshop and explored leadership challenges during socio-political shifts, the impact of online content, and the spread of misinformation and disinformation. He emphasized the need for critical thinking, ethical communication, and adaptive leadership in today’s fast-changing media environment. Dr. Quarmal also addressed how digital platforms shape public perception and the responsibilities leaders hold in countering harmful narratives. Golam Kader Zilany also shared his thoughtful insights about the role of a teacher, adding depth to the discussion and encouraging participants to reflect on their roles as responsible communicators in transitional times. The faculty members, coming from the Department of English, CSE, and EEE, brought diverse academic perspectives to the table, which enriched the discussions and fostered interdisciplinary learning.
The event concluded with closing remarks from the Pro. Vice-Chancellor Professor Jude William Genilo emphasized the importance of responsible and adaptive leadership in today’s digital age.
