CETL Hosts New Faculty Orientation and Induction Training for Summer 2025 at ULAB
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) successfully organized the New Faculty Orientation program for Summer 2025 on June 28, 2025, at ULAB. The day-long program aimed to introduce the newly appointed faculty members to the core values that ULAB upholds.
To inaugurate the program, Golam Kader Zilany, Coordinator of CETL, invited Professor Imran Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of ULAB. In his speech, Professor Imran highlighted ULAB’s commitment to academic excellence and explained the rationale behind promoting a liberal arts ethos. The next session was facilitated by Professor Jude William Genilo, Pro Vice-Chancellor, who discussed the significance of building a professional portfolio to demonstrate growth as an educator and researcher.
Highlighting the importance of sustainability, Nayma Akther Jahan, Research Associate at the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD), spoke on university branding and sustainability at ULAB. Other key sessions included Dr. Abdullah Al Mahmud’s discussion on the value of liberal arts education and Dr. Mohammad Shazzad Hossain’s talk on creating inclusive and gender-sensitive classrooms for Gen Z learners. Additionally, Dr. Nafees Monsoor, Director of the Office of Faculty Research, emphasized the importance of research and discussed incentives for quality publications.
The newly joined educators were also introduced to key administrative bodies and resources, including the Student Affairs Office, the Proctorial Body, and the Human Resource Department (HRD). The program concluded with an overview of key HR policies presented by Musa Mohammad Arif Billah, Director of HR, followed by a closing reflection session.
