CETL Strengthens Faculty Leadership at ULAB Through Workshop Trilogy
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) successfully conducted a three-part workshop series titled “Leadership in Times of Transition” from July 24, July 31st and August 7, 2025. Held at the ULAB campus in Dhaka, the workshops were designed to strengthen leadership capabilities among faculty members by emphasising emotional intelligence, mental processing, and ethical communication during times of change and uncertainty.
The series was organised and facilitated by CETL, with active leadership from Dr. Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, Director of CETL, who delivered opening remarks at each session. Each batch of the workshop aimed to equip faculty members with tools to navigate transitional challenges in academia by focusing on three core areas conducted by a range of experienced professionals.
-
Arzoo Ismail and Mohammad Tawhid Reaz led sessions on Holding Space: Feeling Through the Crisis.
-
Dr. Sarkar Barbaq Quarmal and Mahmudun Nabi facilitated discussions on Mental Processing: Awareness, Verification, and Emotional Regulation.
-
Dr. Wazir A F Ahmad conducted the sessions on Responsible Communication: Ethics, Identity, and Influence and also led the Closing Reflection and Commitment segment in each workshop.
This workshop series is part of CETL’s ongoing mission to foster reflective dialogue, promote emotional resilience, and build ethical leadership within the academic environment. By addressing personal and professional challenges faced by educators during transitional periods, CETL aims to nurture more responsive, self-aware, and communicative faculty leaders.
By bringing together faculty members from various departments and engaging them in deep, structured reflection and skill-building exercises, the workshops helped cultivate a collaborative and growth-oriented academic culture.
