Legal Certainty and Effectiveness in Teaching: A Workshop Organised by CETL
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) organized a day-long workshop on ‘Legal Certainty and Effectiveness in Teaching’ on July 19, 2025, to equip university teachers with the legal and ethical knowledge needed to make informed, responsible, and inclusive pedagogical decisions.
The workshop was designed by Muhammad Aminuzzaman, senior lecturer, Department of Media Studies and Journalism. Throughout the day, participants engaged in sessions covering a wide range of legal issues relevant to higher education. There were discussions on copyright law, including recent amendments in 2023 and developments in international copyright protections.
Md. Saddam Hossain Murad, senior officer of the ULAB accounts office, conducted an in-depth session on income tax and the online income tax return submission process. Nadia Rahman, assistant professor of the Department of English and Humanities, facilitated a session on sexual harassment, highlighting key issues and outlining ULAB’s policy and procedures for prevention and resolution.
The workshop concluded with closing reflections from Golam Kader Zilany, coordinator of CETL, showing gratitude to Muhammad Aminuzzaman for designing this workshop and appreciating the participants for their thoughtful participation.
