ULAB CETL Hosts New Faculty Orientation for Fall 2025
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), through its Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), hosted the Fall 2025 New Faculty Orientation on October 16, 2025. The program introduced new faculty members to ULAB’s liberal education philosophy, institutional culture, and academic practices, emphasizing sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation in an AI-driven world. Nine recently joined faculty members attended the orientation.
Ms. Iram Mehrin, Coordinator of CETL, welcomed participants, followed by Vice-Chancellor Professor Imran Rahman, who highlighted critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and teaching in the AI era. Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Jude William Genilo discussed academic career development, highlighting the significance of teaching portfolios and research statements. Following him, Sameera Zaman from CSD spoke on sustainability education.
Dr. Abdullah Al Mahmud discussed the value of liberal arts. The director of CETL, Dr. Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, led the session on inclusive classrooms while Mahmud Hossain led one on student support services. Shawkat Tanveer Rahman outlined the proctorial system, Dr. Nafees Mansoor introduced research opportunities, and Musa Mohammad Arif Billah reviewed HR policies.
In her closing remarks, Ms. Mehrin thanked all speakers and reaffirmed CETL’s commitment to supporting faculty development as part of ULAB’s mission to nurture critical, compassionate, and future-ready educators.
