Workshop on Teaching for Active Learning (TAL-10)
The Foundation for Learning, Teaching, and Research (fLTR), in partnership with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), recently hosted a three-day certificate course on Teaching for Active Learning (TAL) for batch 10 to enhance the standards of higher education. The training occurred from June 8th to 10th, 2023, at the Green University of Bangladesh (GUB). The course was designed to improve faculties' teaching and learning skills and was attended by 32 faculty members from eight public and private universities.
The Vice Chancellor of GUB and Chairperson of the fLTR, Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, lead the course. He was joined by distinguished educationists such as Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir from DIU, Prof. Dr. Md. Mozahar Ali, former Director of GTI at BAU, Prof. Md. Abdur Razzaque from DU, Prof. Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury from BRACU, Prof. ASM Shihavuddin, Director of CETL-GUB, and Asst. Prof. Hasan Al Zubayer Rony from CETL-GUB was instrumental in facilitating various course sessions. On the last day of the workshop, Dr. Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, the CETL director of ULAB, facilitated a session titled 'Effective Habits of High Performing Teachers.'
Distinguished speakers, such as Prof. Dr. H M Jahirul Haque, Vice Chancellor of the Canadian University of Bangladesh, and Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, Treasurer of fLTR, came together for the TAL-10 certificate-giving ceremony. During the event, the speakers highlighted the importance of the training program and its positive influence on the higher education landscape in Bangladesh.
The fLTR is a collaborative initiative formed by nine Vice Chancellors from well-known private universities in Bangladesh. This initiative was established after thorough research on the quality of teaching and learning in higher education within the country.
