CETL-ULAB Hosts Fall 2023 New Faculty Orientation
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) recently organized a comprehensive orientation program for 15 new faculty members who joined the university in Fall 2023.
The orientation event took place on the ULAB campus on Thursday, October 12th, and was marked by a warm welcome from ULAB's honorable Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Directors, who shared the university's core values with the newcomers.
The day's activities began at 9.30 in the morning under the guidance of Dr. M. Shazzad Hossain, the Director of CETL. Dr. Hossain led an ice-breaking session and introduced the faculty to CETL's team members.
Professor Jude William Genilo, the Pro Vice Chancellor of ULAB, conducted an interactive session that emphasized the structure of academic career and the importance of co-creating knowledge.
The main session, led by Professor Imran Rahman, ULAB's Vice Chancellor, delved into the academic formation process, the significance of academic rigor, and introduced ULAB's vision and mission, as well as the supportive trustee board.
Professor Shahnaj Husne Jahan, Head of General Education, along with Professor Samiya A. Selim, Director of Center for Sustainable Development, and Musa Mohammad Arif Billah, Director of HR, provided insights into liberal arts education, sustainability, and critical HR policies.
The orientation day concluded with an interactive session involving the Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, and CETL Director, creating an amicable environment for new faculty members to participate and feel at ease. Professor Imran Rahman encouraged faculty to utilize AI in teaching ULAB students 21st-century technologies, and the event received high praise from the new faculty members.
