Induction Training to Empower ULAB Faculty with Effective Teaching Technologies
To equip newly recruited faculty members with essential teaching tools and strategies, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a day-long training session on March 7, 2024.
Twenty-four faculty members representing various departments actively participated in the hands-on training. Two internal resource persons led the sessions, ensuring a tailored approach to address the specific needs of the participants. The learning management system used since 2014 is ULAB Moodle, and the training focuses on its effective use.
The training started with Associate Professor Arifa Ghani Rahman guiding the attendees through crucial aspects such as interface navigation, profile management, course setup, content upload, grade book setup, course backup, and restoration.
Later in the day, Associate Professor Dr. Sarkar Barbaq Quarmal delved into assignment management, forum discussion facilitation, and question bank utilization. The practical and interactive sessions allowed participants to grasp the nuances of these essential elements in a teaching environment.
The training's engaging nature encouraged active participation from the faculty members. They enjoyed the sessions and had the opportunity to pose questions, seek clarifications, and gain additional insights into the modules covered. The experts, in turn, provided comprehensive answers, fostering a dynamic and informative learning environment. Dr. M. Shazzad Hossain, the director of CETL, was responsible for coordinating and hosting the training.
This initiative underscores ULAB's commitment to ensuring that its faculty is well-equipped with the latest tools and methodologies, aligning with the university's dedication to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
