Teaching for Active Learning knots successfully by ULAB faculty members

The Foundation for Learning, Teaching, and Research (fLTR), in collaboration with the Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning (CETL) of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh successfully conducted a three-day course titled "Teaching for Active Learning (TAL-14)" from November 28 to 30, 2024, at BRAC University (BRACU). TAL 14 was designed to strengthen the teaching competencies of faculty members and address the evolving challenges in higher education.

Thirty-seven faculty members from ten universities attended TAL-14 led by Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Distinguished Professor and Chairperson of fLTR. Sessions were facilitated by renowned educationists, focusing on effective pedagogical practices, integration of modern educational technologies, and fostering student-centered learning. Four faculty members from UALB joined the sessions namely Md. Nazmul Abdal and Sovon Chakraborty from Computer Science and Engineering, Irtifa Hossain from English and Humanities, and Andalib Rubayat from the Media Studies and Journalism department. The program concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony.

The fLTR represents a collaborative initiative by leading academics and vice-chancellors of reputed private universities. It is grounded in extensive research on the quality of teaching and learning in higher education in Bangladesh. The TAL-14 workshop underscored the importance of active learning, technology integration, and continuous professional development as essential steps to elevate teaching standards and meet the demands of modern higher education.
