ULAB CETL Enhances Faculty Skills with Teaching Strategies
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a day-long induction training on Teaching and Learning Strategies on December 5, 2024. Twenty-four faculty members from various departments attended the session, which aimed to foster innovative and effective teaching practices.
Dr. M. Shazzad Hossain, Director of CETL, inaugurated the event with a welcome address, emphasizing the training's importance in enhancing teaching methodologies. The program began with a session on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) led by Dr. A. F. Wazir Ahmad, Additional Director of IQAC, who provided a foundational understanding of the OBE curriculum.
Renowned educator Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam delivered a compelling session titled The Art of Teaching and Engaging Students in a Distracted World, sharing practical insights and personal experiences to help faculty better connect with students. This was followed by a session on Learning Styles by Tazin Ahmed focusing on the VARK model and cultural contexts in education, supplemented by group activities.
Dr. Haseeb Irfanullah led an engaging discussion on Active Learning: Challenges, Benefits, and Assessment Criteria. Golam Kader Zilany expanded on the topic with a session on Active Learning in Online Teaching. Parveen S. Huda conducted an enriching session on Adult Learning Theory and Bloom’s Taxonomy, providing actionable insights into enhancing instructional design.
Faculty members wrapped up the program by sharing feedback and suggestions, emphasizing the training's value in advancing teaching excellence.
